The Rainbow Phonics 2nd Grade school kit has been assembled for the complete implementation of Rainbow Phonics across the 2nd Grade. 

The Rainbow Phonics Teacher Planner for 2nd Grade focuses on correctly adding affixes to words, the different parts of speech, learning contractions as well as developing spelling and proofreading skills. It provides daily lesson plans based on the progression of The Rainbow Phonics Program, in terms of the completion of sound families and the detailed instruction of prefixes, suffixes and homophones. A handy calendar is provided in the front of the Teacher Planner to display this across the three terms.

At Phase 6 children should have already established reading skills which are further developed through the use of decodable readers and the teacher-led examples used throughout this planner. The lessons in this planner are designed to expand children’s reading abilities as well as spelling skills and encourage them to become fluent readers and increasingly accurate spellers and writers.

The 2nd Grade School kit includes Decodable Readers from Phase 6 in both fiction and non-fiction titles. 

The kit also includes a range of supplementary resources for reaffirming the skills taught in the planner and throughout the decodable readers. 

The Rainbow Phonics program by Junior Learning and Beanstalk Books is a systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) program designed for children in Pre-K to Grade 2 (Phases 1 to 6). It includes a progression of Common Exception Words (Heart Words) alongside letter progression, allowing children to encounter words with different spelling patterns but similar phonemes. Our program has the largest collection of decodable readers and supplementary resources – all following the progression.
